Ride is Starting!

Meet at Billington War Memorial, BB7 9JA, on Sunday 1st August at 9 a.m. Route and further details as below.
The plan is to take lunch at The Old Dairy in Wycoller Country Park, though this may be a takeaway, it should be satisfactory.
Whilst it is a hilly ride with the highlight of Bleara Moor, the original routing software gives the overall ascent as around 2,200 ft, not the 3,700 stated below, who knows!
Total distance is a modest 45 miles. NO ONE will be left behind.

Start at Billington War Memorial. Adjacent parking is available outside St.Augustines High School, Elker Lane, BB7 9JA, Weekends and during School holidays.
The route takes you clockwise, following the Lancashire cycleway 91, through Whalley, Wiswell, Pendleton, Worston and Downham before climbing up to Middop to descend into Barnoldswick. From here you go into Earby to commence the climb up Bleara Moor (not for the faint hearted). There follows the inevitable descent to Laneshaw Bridge before taking the out and back road to Wycoller Country Park. The return is back to the main road continuing clockwise to Trawden, cutting across and through Colne. This includes a short length of canal towpath (part of the Pennine Cycleway route 68) to Barrowford. The last section is the back roads through Wheatley Lane, Fence, Read and Whalley.
This is a hilly ride, but ignoring Bleara Moor, is as flat as it can be.
