Car Parking is conveniently located on Queens Road car park, PR7 1JU. This is next to the park gates. Turn right immediately after the park gates when entering Chorley from the Preston direction or M61 junction 8. Parking should be free after 5 p.m. and all day on Sunday.
The Route passes along Union Street and through the car park on the bypass, under the bridge up Brown Street than Eaves Lane and Cowling. You then take Long, and Back Lanes, Knowley Lane and the oddly named Parsons Bullough Road around Rivington to join Sheephouse Lane to Rivington Village. From here is the descent to Adlington and Heath Charnock. Unfortunately a short section of the A5106 follows before crossing to Coppull, then down Birkacre brow to Chorley and Charnock Richard via Dob Brow. A circuit of Charnock Richard follows before returning along the Yarrow Valley Road (Cycle path available) and back to Astley Park via back roads.
