Emergency or daytime running lights are also recommended. Cash or Card if you require lunch. Lunch can be taken at Kitty's Tea Room in Freshfield.

Leaving from Astley Park gates, Chorley PR7 1JU.
Car Parking is conveniently located on Queens Road car park, PR7 1JU. (what3words ///burn.march.vital). This is next to the park gates. Turn right immediately after the park gates when entering Chorley from the Preston direction or M61 junction 8. Parking should be free after 5 p.m. Weekdays and Saturdays and all day on Sundays. There is alternative parking at Astley Hall. Access is on Hallgate, Astley Village, Chorley PR7 1NP. This is a fairly large car park but there is now a charge of £3 for all day parking every day. There are toilets at Astley Hall, though they may not be open until 9 a.m.
The route is based on Chorley to Freshfield circular but avoids the section of canal path through Burscough. It passes through Charnock Richard, Wrightington, Parbold, Newburgh, Westhead, Scarth Hill, Town Green, Aughton and Downholland Cross arriving in Freshfield for lunch.
Return is a more northerly route via Burscough Bridge, Bispham Green, Eccleston, Euxton returning to Astley Park.
This route contains a short section of unmade and tarmac lengths of the Trans-Pennine Trail, but is still suitable for standard road bikes.
