Start is in front of Astley Hall, Chorley PR7 1XA.
Access is from the car park on Hallgate, Astley Village, Chorley PR7 1NP. This is a fairly large car park and is free. There are toilets at Astley Hall. They are supposed to be open from 9 a.m. The alternative car park is on Queens Road PR7 1JU, next to Astley Park main gates PR7 on the other side of the park. This is also free on a Sunday and after 5 p.m. weekdays.
The route is anti-clockwise via Astley Village and Euxton Lane out to Croston. From here take the cycleway to Mere Brow, along the cycle path to Banks then Crossens, Churchtown and Blowick, continuing down back roads to Ainsdale. Return is via Segars Lane to Halsall, over Clieves Hills to Aughton Park then Westhead. There follows a modest climb up to the Church at Dalton descending to Newburgh, then Andertons Mill and Eccleston, returning to Euxton and Astley Park via Back Lane.
