Meet at Astley Hall, Chorley PR7 1XA at 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday 12th November.
There is parking at Astley Hall on the Hallgate Car park PR7 1NP, what3 words ///penny.double.tidy. This is no longer free. £3 for all day. You can also pay using the
MiPermit App. Unfortunately all car parks in Chorley are now chargeable. Although the Council discourages parking on the streets, everyone seems to do it!
*Please ignore the start in the route details below. We will start from Astley Hall*. The GPX file is correct.
Please bring the usual emergency tools and puncture repair equipment. Lights are also a good idea at this time of year. Cash / Card if you require lunch. There is a Cafe, Coffee Bar and Fish and Chip shop in Fresfield.
Total distance is 55 miles. NO ONE will be left behind.

Leaving from Astley Park gates, Chorley PR7 1JU.

Car Parking is conveniently located on Queens Road car park, PR7 1JU. (what3words ///burn.march.vital). This is next to the park gates. Turn right immediately after the park gates when entering Chorley from the Preston direction or M61 junction 8. Parking should be free after 5 p.m. Weekdays and Saturdays and all day on Sundays. There is alternative parking at Astley Hall. Access is on Hallgate, Astley Village, Chorley PR7 1NP. This is a fairly large car park but there is now a charge of £3 for all day parking every day. There are toilets at Astley Hall, though they may not be open until 9 a.m.

The route is based on Chorley to Freshfield circular but avoids the section of canal path through Burscough. It passes through Charnock Richard, Wrightington, Parbold, Newburgh, Westhead, Scarth Hill, Town Green, Aughton and Downholland Cross arriving in Freshfield for lunch.
Return is a more northerly route via Burscough Bridge, Bispham Green, Eccleston, Euxton returning to Astley Park.

This route contains a short section of unmade and tarmac lengths of the Trans-Pennine Trail, but is still suitable for standard road bikes.
