Meet at Billington War Memorial, Billington BB7 9JU, at 9.30 a.m. Sunday 18th April. Parking available adjacently outside St Augustine's School, Elker Lane.
The route is as below. Lunch will be taken at the Old Vicarage Tea Rooms at Tosside. The menu can be perused here: https://tossidetearoom.org/cafe-menu/. PLEASE NOTE: THE CAFE ONLY ACCEPTS CASH (or Bank Transfer if you are able to set this up!). Participants will be responsible for social distancing and their own hand sanitation if appropriate. A mask may be required at the lunch stop.
The maximum number of riders is 9, though I will try and add some further places on the Let's Ride website. Do not book on if there are already 9 people booked. At the start and lunch stop we are only allowed to congregate in a groups of 6.

THIS ROUTE GOES CLOCKWISE, TURN LEFT AT BOTH INTERSECTIONS
The route passes through Whalley and on minor narrow roads to the village of Wiswell. From here the route crosses the A59 by bridge to the village of Barrow and then takes the green cycle path into Clitheroe. There follows some negotiation of Clitheroe's streets leading to a footbridge accross the River Ribble making a short walk necessary. You can then continue on minor roads through the village of Bashall Eaves then a climb up to the hamlet of Cow Ark, descending into Whitewell, site of the well known Inn at Whitewell. A general, though undulating, ascent follows through wide open scenery to the village of Newton, then picturesque Slaidburn by the River Hodder. From here is the gradual ascent to Tosside, which is just in North Yorkshire. Food can be had at the Old Vicarage Tearooms from where you can enjoy the views and the subsequent long descent down the quiet roads to Bolton by Bowland and Sawley. The route continues on minor roads to the picturesque village of Waddington, from where a back road takes you to an off road section through the grounds of Waddow Hall (owned by the Girl Guides Association) before joining the road back into Clitheroe. This section is in fact a footpath, though rideable, a short piece of this is a rough hill so needs to be walked before hitting the road past the hall. A further ride around Clitheroe takes you back to Wiswell by a different route and the picturesque village of Pendleton to return to Whalley.
