Start is from the small car park on the right on the A6 (travelling North on the A6) on Garstang road, Bilsborrow PR3 0RE. This car park is situated just AFTER the left turn into St Michaels Road (Guy’s Thatched Hamlet) and just BEFORE the Right turn into Bilsborrow Lane (The Roebuck and the Premier Inn).What3words: overture.spaceship.submerge. *PLEASE NOTE* there is a 2 metre height restriction on the car park.
The route heads northward (clockwise) up National Route 6 for the first climbing up the lower road in the shadow of Oakenclough. The route then turns East to a further climb up to Marshaw, with a further descent before passing through the Trough of Bowland and the climb of the same name. The subsequent descent passes through Dunsop bridge, (Cafe and toilets here), and along the valley floor to Whitewell. Continuing west along the loop there is some more climbing to Chipping, (Cafe and toilets here), then North around Beacon fell towards Inglewhite, returning to Bilsborrow.
