I have now further pored over the various cycling bodies’ advice and government guidance. Thank’s to Andrès for his thoughts and interpretation, and Geoff for the same. Lancs police website implies they are only able to fine people who travel in and out of tier 4 areas, which of course do not exist anymore, so it seems unlikely that travelling to the start venues of cycle rides is likely to be a problem, as this is left to our discretion. For me the furthest distance I have to go by car to one of our regular starts is 19 miles. We can now cycle in groups of up to 15 (not much chance of that!) provide we keep to groups of no more than 6 at breaks or food stops, at which we must be wholly separated. Otherwise the usual precautions apply of 1-2 metre distancing between individuals. I hope to put on a ride this Sunday, from Chorley in the first instance, just need to be sure of the weather and check a food stop. Cafes are still restricted to takeaways and we cannot even sit outside them.
