    Life happens whatever you do so there I was looking forward to this Sundays ride when it was pointed out that we are pre-booked at a friends 70th birthday do. This is why I plan to do the same ride on Saturday instead but cunningly it’ll be in reverse as I’ve never climbed the Cross from Wray side.
    Enjoy the Sunday, looks colder but very light winds

    An excellent if a tough day out, clear and sunny with light winds. Tempted to stop at the Saturday cafe at Wrigglesworth but I pressed on with the plan to stop at Slaidburn. Made the cafe there with 30 minutes to spare before they closed and with 4000′ of climbing done, ordered a coke and a double helping of custard tart. Set off with @20 miles left to do but went round by Dunsop and Cow Ark as I didn’t think there was enough in the legs to tackle the rollers from this side plus I wanted to get the 100k. In the end, finished with 65 miles and 5200′ under the belt.

    Well done Mike! Sunday was colder. It even rained all the way down the descent from Cross of Greet. Terry’s Garmin reckoned on over 5,000 ft but there seems to be no consistency in these results. Congratulations to Mick who went up both sides, then off towards Lancaster before riding home; and the two ladies for dragging us around at an average of 11mph.

    Well done to you all as well, Mewith Lane and the Eldroth road are no ‘gimmes’ when you’re expecting the worst is probably over. Based on that I imagine a flatter route for next weekend? I reccied a ride a few weeks ago but thought it might be a bit much, I’ll have to mail you the gpx, links aren’t working here. Had enough trouble getting pics on yesterday.
    Sounds like I had the best weather though, 17C in Slaidburn.
