Start in the small car park on the right on the A6 (travelling North on the A6) on Garstang road, Bilsborrow PR3 0RE. This car park is situated just AFTER the left turn into St Michaels Road (Guy’s Thatched Hamlet) and just BEFORE the Right turn into Bilsborrow Lane (The Roebuck and the Premier Inn).
The route is roughly clockwise via Garstang, Bay Horse and Galgate, passing through the Lancaster University Campus then cycle paths to Lancaster itself. Crossing the Millennium Bridge the route then follows the North side of the Lune Estuary to Overton to cross the tidal causeway to Sunderland point. Sunderland point is only accessible at low states of the tide. Return route is back to Overton, then there is included a dog leg to Half Moon Bay, where there is a cafe. Return is via Middleton and again the North of the Lune to re-cross the Millennium Bridge taking the Bay Cycleway on the South bank of the river towards Condor Green. From here you cross to Galgate and retrace a further section to Bay Horse before returning via Scorton and Barnacre using NCN route 6.
Total distance is 59 miles.
