Starting at the top of Factory Lane where it joins the A6, Whittle-le-Woods, Chorley PR6 7HS. The adjacent War Memorial Car Park (which is free) is accessed through a narrow entrance on the corner of the A6 Preston Road and Factory Lane itself. St John's Primary School is on the opposite corner and Whittlebrook Pharmacy on the opposite side of the road. (What3words ///flagging.poorly.system). It will probably be possible to park on Factory lane itself. There is also a pay car park at the bottom of Factory Lane.
The Route goes anti-clockwise, up Cliffe Drive, along Chorley Old Road to access Denham Lane via Birchin Lane; following NCN route 91 along Denham Lane to Salisbury Bottoms, then Further Lane to cross the A59 to Mellor Brook. From here it goes along Bezza Lane and its views of the Ribble Valley. There is an optional dog leg south down Woods Brow to access Huntleys Cafe on the A59 via a cycle path. Return is across the A59 to Roach Bridge, Gregson Lane and Whittle-le-Woods, utilising cycle paths through Clayton Brook back to Whittle-le-Woods.
Total distance is 25 miles, though quite lumpy.
